Despite what most people believe, the cleanliness and living conditions doesn’t really play a big role when it comes to how likely you are to get a bed bug infestation. Bed bugs are regularly found daily from B and B’s and hotels to residential flats and mansions! Basically, anywhere that people sleep and travel are likely homes for bed bugs. Bed bugs are most likely to find a host to travel on to find a suitable nesting site in crowded public spaces such as airports, trains and hotels.

Another common misconception about bed bugs is how they can spread from person to person. People often compare bedbugs to fleas and ticks, looking for passing hosts to jump on from another infested person, but the fact is bed bugs can’t jump or fly and don’t really move that well at all. Instead, they spread via much more subtle but just as effective means of travel.

Luggage is the most common transportation method that bed bugs use to go from home to home. Once they have gotten into a suitcase, they can lie in wait whist they are transported to their next suitable feeding and breeding ground, this could be a hotel room, someone home, and so on.

Travel isn’t the only means a bed bug has at getting around, they can spread easily through a high-rise building are set of flats, often via wallpaper, electrical outlets and other void spaces. Although moving from person to person isn’t something that bed bugs tend to do it is not unheard of an is indeed still possible if they have no easier alternative.
